What to Expect in a Session
Each session is an unhurried, grounded experience where there is real space for you. We begin by slowing down and taking time to connect, allowing you to share whatever feels present for you in that moment. Being heard and acknowledged is an essential part of the healing process and sets the tone for the energy work that follows.
From there, the session flows naturally into deeper relaxation and energetic healing.You don’t need to do anything, just breathe, receive, and allow the energy to flow where it’s needed most.
After the energy work, there is time to gently return and reflect. We take space to talk, ground, and allow the session to settle, so you don’t leave feeling rushed!
A Touch of Ceremonial Cacao
At the beginning of the session, you’re invited to arrive slowly and ground into the space. As part of this moment, I love to offer a complimentary cup of ceremonial cacao. It’s a gentle heart-opening plant medicine that helps you ground deeper into your body and open yourself to receive energy with more ease and warmth.
The cacao is always optional, it’s simply a loving invitation for those who feel called to experience it. I also have tea!
Clearing Disruptions & Blockages
A Reiki session is a loving, gentle, and deeply relaxing experience that brings balance to your body, mind, and spirit. Reiki works with universal energy, the energy that flows throughout the entire universe.
It may sound a bit abstract, but think of it like a radio. When a radio is on the wrong frequency, you hear static and interference. Similarly, your energy can sometimes get “out of tune.” Reiki helps reduce that interference and allows your energy to flow clearly again.
Blockages can appear on physical, mental, and emotional levels. These may show up as fatigue, low energy, stress, or a general sense of being “off balance.” Reiki helps guide energy to these areas, allowing your body to restore itself and your natural flow to return.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
Energy Work
After our time to land and connect, we slowly move into the energy work. You can make yourself comfortable on the massage table, fully clothed, and just let yourself soften and be present. Blankets, cushions, or a weighted eye mask are there if you want them, so you feel warm, held, and safe while the session unfolds.
I guide energy through my hands to the areas that need it most. You may feel warmth or gentle energy moving through your body, sensations that most people find deeply soothing.
I gently ensure that your chakras and energy flow are balanced and clear. Any excess energy is naturally released, and you’re invited to rest and integrate the session.
Integration & Reflection
After the energy work, we spend time together reflecting, grounding, and integrating the session. This is a gentle space to notice any insights, thoughts, or feelings that came up. It allows the energy to settle and deepen.
What You Can Experience
During a Reiki session, people may notice a variety of physical, emotional, and energetic sensations. Everyone experiences Reiki differently, and all responses are completely normal. Some of the things you might feel include:
- Gentle warmth, tingling, or subtle pulsing in certain areas of the body
- Deep relaxation that can ripple through muscles, joints, and the nervous system
- A sense of energy flowing or circulating throughout the body
- Emotional release: feeling lighter, calmer, or more at peace
- Mental clarity and calmness, like a fog has lifted
- Restored balance and harmony, both physically and emotionally.
Sometimes, the body may release stored tension or blockages, which can feel like:
- Temporary aches or discomfort in muscles or joints
- Nausea or mild queasiness, as the body adjusts and releases stagnant energy
Other times, you may not feel anything at all during the session and that is also completely normal. The energy still works, even if you don’t notice immediate sensations. Reiki works at its own pace, and the effects can continue subtly in the hours or days afterward.
Aftercare
After Reiki, it’s normal for your body to continue releasing tension and energy for a few days.
Reiki helps restore any imbalances in the body. Sometimes this can mean that physical tensions or blockages are released from your body. This can make you feel a little nauseous. Nausea indicates that your body is working to restore balance, and shows that this energy is leaving the body. Although this happens relatively rarely, it is a possible part of the process.
Reiki can also affect your digestive system. The intestines are the body’s natural channel for elimination, so any released imbalance can sometimes be processed through them and leave the body in a natural way.
To support this process:
- Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and stay hydrated
- Take time to rest and honor your body’s needs
- Listen to yourself, and allow quiet reflection or gentle movement if it feels right
Many people notice that the sense of calm, clarity, and balance they feel after the session continues to deepen over the following days, as Reiki continues working subtly and naturally in the body and mind.
